Severely Chapped Lips:

Aloe vera’s excellent healing properties help to heal dry and burned lips. You can apply natural aloe vera gel or fresh aloe vera pulp directly to your lips to cure them. Jojoba oil also works well. Also, drink a lot of water! Make sure you stay hydrated at all times and remember that soda, tea, juice, and coffee are not substitutes (they can actually make the problem worse). If dry air caused by cold weather is your problem, then try using a humidifier.

Sinus Congestion:

If you have sinus pressure and congestion and need quick relief, try chewing on some peppercorn. To use black peppercorns to relieve your sinus congestion, take 4-5 peppercorns and slowly chew and swallow them. Relief is imminent. Don’t have peppercorn? Try eating a spoonful of horseradish. Also, nettle is highly nutritive and is especially helpful if your sinus congestion is caused by allergies. Several cups of nettle tea can be consumed daily. Alternately, take 4 nettle leaf capsules twice a day, with or without food.

Watery / Itchy Eyes:

Try soaking 2 chamomile tea bags in hot water for 1 minute. Once they’ve soaked, put them in a bowl inside your freezer. Leave the bags in the freezer for 15 – 30 minutes. Once they’re cold to the touch, close your eyes and lay the tea bags over your eyelids. Rest this way for 10 minutes. Once you remove the tea bags, your eyes should feel less itchy and water less.

If you’re feeling tired this winter, try cutting down on your intake of fat and seek a diet that consists of higher fiber and more carbohydrates. Spinach is also a great food to implement into your daily diet. Eating spinach once a day is an old-time remedy for relieving fatigue. It contains potassium as well as many B vitamins, all of which are important for your energy and metabolism.

Sore Throat:

If you’ve had a sore throat before, you know how painful it can be! We recommend gargling with very warm salt water every night, to prevent infections and inflammation in your tonsils. Natural peppermint oil is also a great remedy to keep in your bag during the winter. You can dab a bit on your tongue if you start feeling a sore throat coming on, or simply rub a few drops on your chest to act as a vapor. It smells delicious and your scent will be perfect for the season!
