We’re pleased to announce that our Chief Operations Officer, Glenn Ward, was appointed to the Oregon Tilth board of Directors in January 2018. Oregon Tilth is an organization dedicated to supporting agriculture and products through nonprofit education, advocacy, and certification. They strive to make their food system and agriculture biologically sound as well as socially equitable. Like us, Oregon Tilth is concerned with the needs of people and the planet and has been since 1974. They balance those needs through a, “focus on core areas of certification, conservation, social equity, policy, and the marketplace.”
In the last 40 years, Oregon Tilth has helped form the USDA National Program and helped found the Materials Review Institute. It has expanded efforts towards sustainability beyond agriculture to cloth goods and other products.
We’ve been in the vanguard of and ethical sourcing, from Glenn and Liz joining the ethically sourced movement nearly two decades ago to continually supporting family farmers around the world.
“Oregon Tilth’s missions coincide with my deepest professional values,” said Glenn. “The growth in ethical sourcing and plant-based foods is something I’ve always been passionate about. To work with and be given the opportunity to serve a broader community of like-minded individuals is exciting,” said Ward. “I’ve worked with processors and farmers for over 20 years. I’m excited to deepen my understanding of the challenges we face together.”
